I went to university in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC)

Mum did a guest lecture at Ton Duc Thang University, so we got to have a tour of the campus. 

Students have to wear uniforms and bow to staff when they go to university! They also have to do military training as part of their studies. Behind me, you can see them in camouflage playing with guns! 

They have some funny names for things. It's nearly the Lunar New Year celebrations (called Tet) when there will be a two-week holiday.

...a recreation of a Viet Cong guerilla base on the actual site in the mangrove forest where some soldiers were killed by crocodiles! 

Vung Tau

Vung Tau is the beach playground to the north of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC).

You get there by riding to the car and bike ferry.

Then you get on the ferry with a bunch of other bikes and cars. 

Vung Tau has French Riviera / Gold Coast vibes.

This is the same beach in the morning when the tide is out and you can walk to the little island with a temple at the top. 

It has a McDonalds, where you can get a salted egg soft serve! They so hold kids birthday parties where you can bring your own clown (not necessarily Ronald McDonald)!

Glamping

Our annual one-night surprise getaway with mum: this year glamping in two retro caravans at a native flower farm where you can pick your own bunch.
